Career in Beauty Opens Doors
By Laurie Brown

You’re ready to put your talents to work as a hair stylist, manicurist, esthetician, make-up artist, or barber.  Your passion for fashion and determination to stay ahead of the ever changing, always challenging, beauty industry is at its height.

But which field is right for you?  Only a top-rated salon school or beauty academy can help to identify and develop your true artistic gifts. Here are a few of the programs offered by best cosmetology programs:

Hair designers/stylists.  A good beauty school will teach you the skills necessary to create hairstyles ranging from the everyday to the extraordinary.  You’ll learn how to cut, color, perm, straighten, treat, and offer advice on design.  You’ll work on mannequins and even live models, building your styling skills as you learn first-hand what it takes to have a successful career in beauty

Esthetician. You’ve done your homework by selecting an accredited cosmetology program.  Now the real work (and fun!) begins. At beauty school, you’ll learn how to properly perform skin care services that dramatically enhance your client’s personal appearance, such as body treatments and wraps, waxing, tweezing, facials, facial massages, facial treatments, and paraffin treatments, among others.

Make-up Artist.  Everyone may think they know how to apply make-up but truly only a trained make-up artist who has graduated from an accredited cosmetology program can bring a client’s inner beauty to the surface.  At beauty school, you’ll learn how to become an expert in make-up consultation, helping others to reveal their true beauty by determining what styles and colors are most appropriate for their skin tone, facial shape, eye color, and hair color.

Nail Technician. One of the most popular salon school programs, manicurists learns to apply artificial nails, wraps, and gels, as well as perform manicures and pedicures. You’ll learn the health and safety aspects of cutting, trimming, polishing, coloring, cleanings, and massaging for hands and feet; and even use your artistic gifts by providing over-and-above services such as the nail art.

So go ahead.  Pursue your dream of a career in beauty.  The school of your choice awaits.
